The voice of one cry  ing in the wil  der  ness, 

Pre  pare ye the way of the Lord; 

make straight in the sol  i  tude a high  way for our God. 

Ev  ’ry val  ley shall be ex  alt  ed, 

and ev  ’ry moun  tain and hill shall be made low; 

and the crook  ed shall be made straight, 

and the rug  ged pla  ces plain. 

And the glo  ry of the Lord shall be re  veal  ed, 

and all flesh shall see to  geth  er; 

for the mouth of the Lord hath spo  ken.
